FTIMS graduate awarded for MSc thesis

During the XXIII Conference on Liquid Crystals, Chemistry, Physics and Applications, which was held in Karpacz on 18 – 22 October 2021, a graduate of Technical Physics, Michał Szmigielski, MSc, won the second prize in the competition organised by the Polish Liquid Crystal Society. The aim of the competition was to recognise exceptional MSc theses in the field of liquid crystals.

Michał Szmigielski defended the thesis entitled Numerical Investigations of Two-Dimensional Structures of Flexoelectric Origin in Twisted Nematic Cells on 23 January 2020 and graduated with the final grade “excellent”. The supervisor of the thesis, and the person who submitted it to the competition, was Assoc. Prof. Eng. Mariola Buczkowska, TUL Prof.

At  present, Michał Szmigielski is developing his research interests as part of doctoral studies at the TUL Interdisciplinary Doctoral School
