The Elsevier published an updated database of the world's most cited authors in October. The database consists of two parts. The first one contains the names of the scientists most highly cited in 2021. The second contains quotations cited throughout scientific career.

Information Technology degree program conducted in English by the Faculty of Technical Physics, Information Technology and Applied Mathematics in cooperation with the International Faculty of Engineering has been accredited by the Computing Accreditation Commission of ABET, the global accreditor of college and university programs in applied and natural science, computing, engineering, and engineering technology.

The game "Bzzz! - Together in Power" won the Best Gameplay award in Indie Showcase at the international Game Access Conference, which was held on 27-28 May 2022 in Brno (the Czech Republic). DVD Unicorns - a team of young game developers, who are studying for a BEng degree in Applied Computer Science at our Faculty - competed with professional projects developed by small and medium-sized game publishers.

The Polish Academic Karate Championships, which were held on 7-8 May in Warsaw, attracted nearly 100 competitors from 34 universities. Julia Komorowska, a student of applied mathematics at our Faculty, delivered an outstanding performance, reaching the podium twice – individually and in a team.

Scientific outreach is nowadays an important aspect of academic research. Effective communication of a complex issue to a non-specialist audience is not an easy task. How to increase the awareness and understanding of science among a wide and diverse public? This topic has been discussed by prof. Katarzyna Szymańska-Dębowska in her recent article on the Blog of Lodz University of Technology.

Another sporting success! A fantastic performance from our student at the Academic Athletics Championships of Lodz Voivodship. The event, which was held on 12 May, saw participants from Lodz University of Technology, University of Lodz and Medical University of Lodz. We are delighted to announce that Tomasz Józefiak, an MSc applied mathematics student at our Faculty, won two medals: gold in the discus and silver in the shot put. Congratulations!

Biogenic crystals are crystals that grow inside or under the influence of living organisms. Their forms are very diverse and the process of their growth is extremely complex. This fascinating research topic attracted the attention of a top journal “Science”.

Dr. Krzysztof Guzek was awarded this year's "Łódzkie Eureka" prize. The award was presented during the inauguration ceremony of the 21st jubilee Festival of Science, Technology and Arts.
